Build 302 – support for HTML Help projects (hhp files)
To build 301/302 was added support for HTML Help project files (hhp extension). If you use Sisulizer for localization of HTML Help files, this new feature can revolutionize your work with Sisulizer. Of course you can still use CHM file as source for Sisulizer projects, but using HHP files as source files for your Sisulizer projects can be for you a even more comfortable and flexible solution. For example you can now with Sisulizer:
- Localize CHM files and compile localized CHM files with Sisulizer
- Localize HHP project file and compile localized CHM files with Sisulizer
- Localize HHP project file and compile localized CHM files with external tools
When you add HHP file via Sisulizer’s Project Wizard…
…Sisulizer automatically adds all files included to HTML Help project for example HTML files, image files, files included to subdirectories and you don’t need to add these files separately. The structure of your help project (also with subdirectories structure) is visible in Sisulizer’s project tree.
Not localizable files, for example CSS files aren’t visible in Project Tree, but all these files are also included to compiled output CHM file.
By default Sisulizer builds compiled CHM file as output file for HHP source files, but you can change it optionally via:
- Right click on your HHP node in Sisulizer’s Project tree -> select “Properties” item from context menu -> go to “Options” tab -> uncheck “Create localized CHM file” option
- Go to “Project” menu -> “Edit Source” -> select your HHP -> go to “Options” tab -> uncheck “Create localized CHM file” option
It allows you to use Sisulizer for localization of files included to HTML Help Project and compile it in external HTML Help authoring tool. However, using Sisulizer to compile the CHM files is the easier solution.
Hint
Together with Sisulizer is installed also a simple example of HHP localization. You can find it in:
- Sisulizer installation directory \Htmlhelp\Project on Windows XP
- Sisulizer data folder \Htmlhelp\Project on Vista and Windows 7

Hi Frederik,
I agree, if you have a chm it does not have an advantage. But e.g. Robohelp also creates help projects that are not compile to chm. You use the not compiled html files. We have users who use this format instead of chm and so we added the support for this “platform” as well.
Hope this helps
Renate

I fail to see the advantage of localizing HHP files over localizing the CHM file directly. What is the difference?
