Translation Statistics
Translation statistics are an important element for exchanging information between developers and translators. Stats information can be used for checking of translation progress or work out fee for translators. Because these information can be very useful for Sisulizer’s users, our developers included a special Statistics pane to main window of Sisulizer. If you want to see current translation statistics, simply click on “Statistics” button located at the bottom border of main Sisulizer’s window. Most of localization tools has implemented statistics feature, but usually these features are limited to generate statistics reports, while information displayed in Sisulizer’s “Statistics” tab aren’t “static” and are updated in real time. So, if you type new translation in sheet, it immediately updates information in Statistics pane. Additional statistics data depend on:
- Edited language – when you change edited language, Sisulizer automatically displays statistics for currently selected language. You can also generate statistics report (as HTML file) and to this report are added statistics information for all languages included to the project
- Selected node in Project Tree – if you select “All” node in Project Tree, Sisulizer displays statistics for the whole project. When you select a specific source node or form node, Sisulizer displays only statistics related to this selected node
- Filtering features – if you use any filter from Filter panel or Filter dialog, statistics information are automatically adjusted to changed translation sheet content
All above mentioned features make Sisulizer’s Statistics a very flexible utility, and you can customize source information for displaying in this panel. But that’s not all, because apart from selecting source of statistics you can also select how Statistics pane should display statistics. You can do it via Statistics pane properties. This properties dialog is available via
- “Edit Properties” button on toolbar of Statistics pane
- “Properties” menu item in context menu of Statistics pane
- “Tools” menu -> “Panes” -> “Statistics”
In “General” tab of Statistics pane properties you can check or uncheck following items.
Displayed elements:
- Summary
- Row statuses
- Translation statuses
Kind of displayed statistics:
- Show statistics in strings
- Show statistics in words
- Show statistics in characters
General options for statistics’ displaying:
- Show progress bar
- Show percentages
- Separate duplicate translations
- Highlight texts
Below is a screenshot from most simplest stats view (with checked “Translation statuses” and “Show statistics in strings” options) for example project
…and screenshot from statistics with checked all options for this same sample project
If you need you can also generate statistics as HTML report. Generated report contains always information about all languages included to your project. You can generate report via:
- “Show report” button on toolbar of Statistics pane or Statistics pane’s context menu. This report contains information depend on selected node in Project Tree and used filters.
- “Project” menu -> “Report” menu item. This report contains information about whole project and filers. Selected node in Project Tree and used filters don’t influence on report contents.
Before generating of report, Sisulizer opens dialog where you can select location of saving and options related to contents of generated report.
More information about reports feature you can find in this article on our blog.
Hints
- Feature for displaying duplicate translations can be useful for accounting a job, because most of employers (e.g. software developers or LSPs) usually don’t pay at all or at least lower rates for duplicates.
- If you have checked “Row statuses”option, you can find in easy way if your project contains new or changed items.
- When your employer asks you about progress of your job (and vice versa), simply generate a report and send it to him.
